My Story

I graduated from Kennesaw State University in 2012 with a degree in Communications, and began working for an insurance company. A few years later I went on my first missions trip and it completely changed my life. I was prepared to either stay in Costa Rica or bring all of those orphaned children home with me. It broke my heart to see so many needs and so few resources. I have always had a heart for missions, but actually being in the field increased my burden for those suffering all around the world. I knew I would never be the same and I continued to look for other opportunities to serve and go on more trips. While on a mission trip in 2021, my missions director at church asked me what my ideal job would be, and I responded by saying ‘I would love to take groups of people around the world on short-term trips to help local pastors and churches’. Little did I know two MMO missionaries would be coming to my church later that fall. They had come to present the ministry and recruit medical professionals for a trip. Although I didn’t have a medical background, I went to the meeting to learn more about this organization. At the end of the meeting, Bradley shared that they were also looking for help in the home office due to the growth in the ministry and number of trips they were taking each year. I was immediately intrigued and decided to inquire about the role.

I interviewed in January of 2022 and went home to pray about leaving my job of 9 years, my home, my church, and moving away from family and friends. Although the idea of working in missions fulltime was exciting, I was afraid of all the changes that would come along with accepting this position. However, I can still remember the immediate peace I felt after I surrendered to the Lord and accepted the position. I began working in the home office in March 2022 and went on my first MMO trip in May 2022. I was assigned to the optical team at an eyeglass fitting station. On the first day of clinic, I pulled a few pairs of glasses for one of my patients, and one pair looked very familiar. After reviewing the lens prescription, I realized that this was a pair of glasses I had donated more than a year ago. This pair worked perfectly for my patient! All I could think was ‘only God could have kept those glasses for this exact moment and this exact patient’.

I knew God wanted me to work with Medical Missions Outreach, but after my first trip experience, the Lord began working in my heart to not only be in the office but also lead trips. Since that time, I’ve been able to travel on 3 more trips and have transitioned to a hybrid role where I will continue to work in the home office as well as lead optical teams in developing nations. I am blessed to be able to use the skill set God has given me to serve those in need and partner with local churches to share the Gospel with each and every patient.

I hope my story allows you to see how the Lord is using MMO to share the good news of the Gospel all around the world, and specifically how He is working in my life. Will you help me help others see Jesus and consider becoming a part of my support team?
