Bio

My name is Ron Riggs. I am a retired firefighter paramedic from Perry Township in Canton, Ohio. I accepted Christ as my savior at Sunday school as a young child. I grew up on a church camp where my parents worked for nearly 30 years. I always thought I would follow my father’s footsteps and work full time at the church camp.  This was not God’s plan for my life.

My wife and I were married in 1986 and shortly after,I joined the fire department. I worked for thirty five years until retiring in June of 2022. In 2015, I took my first trip with Medical Missions Outreach (MMO). In 2016, I took my second trip with MMO to Panama, and this is when God started working on my heart to become more involved with missions. My thoughts were,” I can go anywhere, just not Africa.” Little did I know, my next three trips would be to Africa.

In 2021, God continued working on my heart about missions and opened the door for me to retire from the fire department in the summer of 2022. After many prayers and talks with my wife, I made the decision to serve full time with MMO.  In November 2022, we officially signed with MMO and I accepted a position as Team Operations Coordinator. I am excited to see what God is going to do in the next chapter of our lives.
